Returning your completed application pack

Contact admin@brookesrecruitment.com or call 0121 244 1806 to arrange a secure return route for your completed pack and supporting documents. Brookes must verify your checks and confirm clearance before you start work.

Before you start work

Your worker compliance checklist.

Please only apply to work with Brookes if you are able and willing to meet the compliance requirements for your role before starting work. You may enquire while gathering documents. Our team will explain the evidence needed and guide you through the checks.

01 · Identity and right to work

Provide identity and address evidence, current contact details and any relevant name-change evidence. Complete the correct UK right to work check before starting, using acceptable documents, an eligible digital check, a Home Office share code or the Employer Checking Service, as applicable. A National Insurance number alone is not proof of right to work.

02 · Permission for your assignment

Tell us about visa conditions, permitted hours, work restrictions and expiry dates. Brookes must check that your permission covers the actual role and hours offered. Students and sponsored workers must not assume that additional agency work is permitted.

03 · Work history and references

Provide an up-to-date CV or full employment history and explain gaps. For work with vulnerable people, provide two suitable referees who are not relatives and agree that their written references may be shared with the hirer. Brookes verifies the references and your suitability before placement.

04 · Background screening

Complete the checks appropriate to your duties and UK nation: an eligible DBS check in England and Wales, PVG membership for regulated roles in Scotland, or AccessNI in Northern Ireland. Barred-list checks apply only where legally eligible. Existing certificates and any DBS Update Service subscription must be verified; additional overseas evidence may be required.

05 · Qualifications and training

Provide the qualifications and current training required for the role. Nurses need appropriate current NMC registration; other professional or social care registrations may apply. Training may include safeguarding, infection prevention, basic life support, fire safety, dementia and behaviour support. Complete practical face-to-face moving and handling where required. Medication duties require verified competence and client authorisation.

06 · Health, registration and induction

Complete any proportionate role-related occupational health assessment and discuss support or reasonable adjustments confidentially. Complete registration, provide payroll details securely and review your Key Information Document and terms of engagement. Confirm your assignment details and complete the required induction before undertaking the relevant duties.

Brookes must confirm your clearance before you attend.

Sending documents or ticking a checklist does not authorise you to work. Brookes must verify the evidence, assess your suitability and confirm that you are cleared for the specific assignment. Keep your checks and training current, tell us promptly about changes and only attend an approved booking.

Requirements combine legal checks with Brookes and client standards and vary by role, duties and UK nation. There is no single certificate that makes someone fully compliant for every UK job.
